The Why Behind Holistic Progression

Why Holistic Progression? Well, let me begin in saying this; One of the things I value most about the field of music therapy is that services are provided to a wide range of individuals, with different needs, in all kinds of facilities. No two clients are the same. Each client has his/her own cultural, educational, and religious background. Therefore, no client should receive music therapy services in the exact same way. A holistic approach is characterized the treatment of the whole person, taking into account all factors that make a person unique. At Holistic Progression, each client, student, and patient is viewed individually and differences are celebrated! The goal is to create and support each client’s/student’s music experiences in the best way possible! Holistic Progression: Music Therapy & Lesson’s Philosophy on music therapy is as follows:

Music therapy is an opportunity. It is an opportunity for individuals to escape the common assumptions regarding their diagnoses and life circumstances and develop in individual and personalized areas of need. Music therapy treatment provides opportunities for the development of genuine relationships built on trust. Music therapy is not an, “in-the-box,” treatment, but develops through both a series of shared experiences and through the tool of patient preferred music. Music therapy is the focus on an individual as a whole--his/her feelings, experiences, and beliefs, but it is also an outlet for an individual to share his/her feelings and experiences with others. Music therapy creates an awareness that we are all different, and all have unique needs, but can be connected, progress, and challenged through shared, musical experiences.”
